Atbash Cipher

The Atbash cipher is a simple substitution cipher.  It replaces the first letter "a" with the last "z" and the second letter "b" with the second to last letter "y" and so on.  It was used in ancient times and was traditionally known as a Holy Code based on Hebrew.
It is rumored to have been used by the Knights Templar to name their deity.

  1. This seems like such a simple code but it I guess if you didn't know what this code I feel like it would still be a difficult code to break.

  2. This is an interesting substitution cipher. By switching the letters, your ciphertext would look much different then say a Cesar shift cipher. But, since the key cannot be changed, I don't think it could have that much security.
