National Cryptologic Museum
The National Cryptologic Museum is presented to the public by the National Security Agency. It shows the nations cryptologic legacy and place in world history. It is adjacent to NSA headquarters in Maryland. The museum has a collection of thousands of artifacts that collectively serve to maintain knowledge of cryptographers and cryptanalysts. It is the only museum within the intelligence community.
Huh, I wonder why their aren't more museums. I mean we've practically been decoding messages since the country formed, their has to be more than enough historical stuff to put in just one museum.
ReplyDeleteI have lived in Maryland all my life and have never once been to this Museum. It is definitely something that sounds interesting. I wonder what type of codes in history are considered important enough to display in the Museum, and how often it is updated? Countless secret codes are sent daily, how do we decide which ones are important? If it was important enough to encrypt, then it was important enough to keep a secret from someone.
